Botox Injectable Wrinkle Relaxers New Jersey
People are unique. We all have our own distinct styles, preferences and interests. However, one general rule when it comes to people approaching the age of 30 and beyond is that nobody likes to see wrinkles on their face. Sure, some of us tolerate the natural aging process more than others, and some have done a great job not letting these things bother them. But when a treatment and preventative measure as easy and convenient as Botox Cosmetic comes along, why in the world wouldn’t someone at least consider it as a worthwhile option?
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Adam Hamawy is a highly trained and experienced professional operating out of New Jersey who understands how to incorporate Botox to give you a natural-looking appearance while combating the signs of aging.
What Is Botox?
Botox is a cosmetic and medical treatment derived from bacteria known as botulinum toxin type A. Once purified under controlled laboratory conditions, this neurotoxin is then vacuum-dried and administered in extremely small doses to treat conditions associated with overactive muscles.
Before being used, the vials are stored in the doctor’s office at -5 degrees Fahrenheit until reconstituted with saline.
What Are the Intended Uses for Botox?
Botox can be used in a variety of ways, both cosmetic and medical. They have been administered in patients looking to relax irritating eye spasms. Some patients have turned to this injectable to reduce the symptoms of migraine pain. Sufferers of excess sweating, or hyperhidrosis, can inject Botox in targeted areas such as the armpits, hands and feet to block signals to sweat glands.
In more severe medical cases, Botox has been an excellent tool for muscle spasms associated with multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions.
Cosmetically, Dr. Hamawy injects Botox into targeted overactive muscle groups on the face that lead to wrinkles. Common facial expressions like frowning, squinting and smiling can cause the skin to bunch up against itself and create wrinkles over time. With Botox, patients are still able to fully articulate expressions on their face but can now do so in a way that will not lead to the advancement of lines or other signs of aging.
How Botox Works
Once the solution is injected into the specified area, Botox acts as a neuromuscular inhibitor and wrinkle relaxer, limiting the muscles from spasms or over-articulation. Once those muscles are less active, facial lines begin to vanish and new lines are blocked from being formed.
The entire injection process takes anywhere from five to 10 minutes to administer, and there is absolutely no recovery or downtime required. Aside from a manageable stinging and burning that some patients report when being injected, the treatment is pretty much pain free.
In a couple of weeks, the patient should experience the maximum benefits from that particular treatment. However, if patients return for treatments about every four to six months, they can maximize the effect of this age-defying surgical alternative. For those interested in a single treatment, the effects of Botox should wear off after about four months.
