Freeze Fat Away with CoolSculpting®
CoolSculpting® is a popular FDA-approved choice for people looking to contour their body through fat loss. Although it may be a non-invasive treatment requiring no surgery, injections or downtime, this procedure isn’t ideal for everyone. It can’t help patients with a large amount of fat loss, and it doesn’t treat sagging skin. At Princeton Plastic Surgeons, we can provide you with a consultation to determine if you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting®.
More About CoolSculpting®
The technology used in CoolSculpting® actually freezes fat cells, essentially destroying it. However, the surrounding tissue is not affected, and the frozen cells are eliminated from your system gradually over a period of weeks. This controlled cooling method is meant to eliminate the stubborn fat cells that are resistant to diet and exercise. Afterward, you will have a smoother, more contoured appearance.
Candidates for the Procedure
CoolSculpting® is not meant for weight loss. Rather, it is designed for fat reduction. The ideal candidate is one who has some stubborn fat resistant to diet and exercise. Also, if you have bulges that bother you, CoolSculpting® can likely remove them. Love handles, thighs and belly fat are areas that are commonly treated.
What to Expect
The number of sessions you will need is dependant on your desired results. During the CoolSculpting® procedure, you will be able to relax, read or watch TV. Expect to feel a cold sensation at the beginning of your treatment. The feeling will lessen shortly after that.
After Your Treatment
Because CoolSculpting® is non-surgical, you can resume your regular everyday activities immediately following your treatment. Many patients even schedule a procedure during their lunch hour, immediately returning to work. Your body will need to eliminate targeted fat cells gradually, so it’s possible you won’t notice results for several weeks. The good news is that your results will improve as fat cells are eliminated. Most patients will see optimal results at around the two-month mark.
If you have put in the work to exercise and eat right, but you still have stubborn fat that just won’t budge, CoolSculpting® may be a suitable option. At Princeton Plastic Surgeons, we are dedicated to helping patients attain their ideal image. During the consultation, you will be able to voice your cosmetic concerns and by working together, we can create the appropriate treatment plan to help you reach your goals.
